Asset

Market Terms

We don't know everything about the markets.  We're just devoted to learning.  Taken from those smarter than ourselves, here's how we define Asset.

Trading assets are collections of securities intended to be sold for a profit.  They are different from investments and generally held in a separate account than the investment portfolio.  Examples of a trading asset are forex rate contracts, mortgage-backed securities, or US Treasury securities.  The goal of asset trading is to resell and take advantage of short-term price movements.
