Unicorn Company

Market Terms

We don't know everything about the markets.  We're just devoted to learning.  Taken from those smarter than ourselves, here's how we define Unicorn Company.

A term used by many in the financial world to describe a privately-owned startup with a valuation of more than $1 billion.  The term was first used by venture capitalist Aileen Lee implying that finding one of these companies is so rare they may as well be unicorns.  Some examples of a unicorn company are SpaceX and Robinhood, with Facebook being a super-unicorn.  Many potential unicorn companies are tech startups, with some arguing that number of new tech companies valued at more than $1 billion are demonstrative of “froth in the market.”
